OUR INTAKE DEPARTMENT’S MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER AN ACCIDENT, THE ROAD AHEAD

It takes mere seconds for a car accident to happen. The effects of the accident linger long after the police arrive to clear the scene. While you should be working on recovery, instead you’re torn between the countless problems that arise after an accident. Medical bills, transportation to your doctor visits, rehabilitation costs, and stress of corresponding with an insurance representative are just a few of the hurdles that will be coming your way. The mental and physical stress alone is enough to make many victims drop claims, which is exactly what insurance companies want. Below you’ll find the most common questions we hear in our office from potential new clients.

THE OTHER DRIVER WAS GIVEN A TICKET, SO WHY DO I NEED A LAWYER?

With an attorney on your side, you have some who will fight for you to get the compensation you deserve. The insurance company employs defense lawyers, medical experts, and investigators to protect their interests. You cannot trust insurance companies to treat you fairly. Their advertising is nothing more than propaganda. You are not in good hands, they are not good neighbors and even when you’re seeking help from your own insurance, their sole goal is to diminish or defeat your claim. When you retain our firm, we will aggressively investigate and represent you so that your rights are preserved.

I DON’T WANT TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE, WILL IT INCREASE MY RATES?

We cannot predict when an insurance company will raise its costs or what reasons they will use for a cost change. However, you must give your insurance company proper notice of the accident to use the policy coverages you pay for on your policy. Otherwise, you could be ineligible to use coverages such as MedPay, Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage. These are considered “no fault” coverages. Notice to your insurance carrier is sent as a request for a no-fault claim. Your insurance company should not raise your premium for using coverages you are paying to have and that you have a right to use for your benefit and protection. Usually, a person that has caused accidents and has a history of claims filed against them for causing damages could face higher rates because they are considered, by the insurance company, as a risk. You are not obligated to use any of your coverages, but we encourage you to do so as it will benefit you and your case, depending on what coverages you purchased and were in effect on the date of your accident.
