35-Year Old Man Killed in Single-Car Crash on Peach Orchard Road

When we tend to think of fatal accidents, we usually think of multi-vehicle crashes. We don’t think of lone drivers who lose control of their car and crash into a tree. And, since there’s often nobody else around, we’re left scratching our heads trying to figure out what caused the single-car crash. This wasn’t the case last night when a driver was killed in a single-car crash on Peach Orchard Road in Augusta, where a 35-year old man killed in a single-car crash.

35-year old Dominique Watson was driving on Peach Orchard Road just North of Phinzy Road when someone cut him off. He was trying to avoid a collision and his car swerved.

The vehicle ended up veering off the road and onto the side of the road. Watson hit a curb, causing it to flip over. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. There were people who saw the whole thing unfold.

A witness said that they saw the other vehicle cut Watson off, forcing his car to swerve. They said the car took off and the next thing they knew, Watson was flying from the car. He was taken to Augusta University Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Richmond County coroner pronounced him dead and ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma. The investigation is ongoing. As of yet, there’s no information on the other driver who seems to have caused what proved to be a fatal crash.
